The application possibilities of eye-tracking technologies in education, cartography, and the analysis of interactive maps

October 6th, 2025 - October 8th, 2025
Kaunas, Lithuania

Three-day international workshop hosted at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), led by researchers from Palacký University Olomouc. The programme covered eye-tracking applications in education, cartography, and interactive-map analysis: innovative data analysis tools (GazePlotter, ScanGraph, EyetRack, ET2Spatial, BiSigma Software Suite), comparison of professional and low-cost eye trackers, hands-on experiments with Tobii Pro Glasses 3 and Pupil Labs, and a showcase of student research projects (Covid dashboards, visual-analytics tools, weather web maps, gaze-controlled maps).

From the lab to the field — eye-tracking glasses for evaluation and interaction in cartography

September 10th, 2025
Brno, Czechia
Held at: 26. KK

Two-part workshop on mobile eye-tracking in cartography. Part 1 — field evaluation with Tobii Pro Glasses 3: calibration, data collection over a physical map, processing in Tobii Pro Lab, and visualisation in GazePlotter. Part 2 — real-time interaction scenarios with Pupil Labs Neon, where gaze becomes an interaction modality, enabling multi-user gaze sharing over a large-format map via QR-anchored coordinate transformation.

Possibilities of Eye-tracking Data Visualization and Analyses

May 17th, 2024
Brno, Czechia
Held at: CAL 24

Hands-on introduction to eye-tracking technology and its use for analyzing behavior in response to visual stimuli. The workshop covered foundational principles, demonstrated cartographic case studies, and introduced four tools developed at Palacký University Olomouc: GazePlotter for attention-distribution visualization, ScanGraph for scanpath comparison, the Compositional Data Analysis (CoDA) method, and the new eyetRack R package featuring recurrence quantification analysis.

Introduction to the current state of dyslexia intervention, the possibility of eye-tracking technology and the needs of target users

May 16th, 2024
Brno, Czechia
Held at: CAL 24

Introduction to the DeveLex system — a comprehensive eye-tracking-based platform for dyslexia intervention built around adaptability, scalability, and interactivity. The workshop presented the underlying principles, demonstrated practical eye-tracking applications, and opened a discussion on the needs of dyslexic children, parents, libraries, and counseling centers.
